Strike Out NF: Roaring Start to NF Awareness Month
On May 1st NFX kicked off NF Awareness Month by bring together members of Metro-Detroit’s’ NF community at Comerica Park for a Detroit Tigers game, where NFX was to be recognized as the Charity of the Game and host our first-ever Community Night. Despite less-than-ideal weather, the energy and enthusiasm throughout the ballpark never wavered. From the moment gates opened, it was clear the night was about more than just baseball. It was about connection and celebrating a community that continues to show up for one another.
106 members of the NF community joined us for the game, creating a strong and visible presence throughout the stadium. Seeing so many families, friends, and supporters gathered together in one place was incredibly meaningful. Events like this reinforce the importance of creating spaces where individuals and families impacted by NF can feel connected, seen, and supported. 
One of the highlights of the evening was the response to our custom t-shirts, which featured our friendly tiger wearing Nick’s iconic bow tie. The design quickly became a conversation piece throughout the ballpark, with many Tigers fans stopping by our table to ask where they could get one of their own. More than just a t-shirt, it became a fun and meaningful way to spark conversations, share Nick’s story, and increase awareness throughout the stadium.
While the game itself didn’t end in a Tigers win, the outcome on the field didn’t take away from the experience. The real win was in the relationships strengthened, the new connections formed, and the shared moments that made the night so special. Seeing so many familiar faces while also welcoming new friends into the NFX community.
Throughout the evening, our team had the opportunity to engage directly with fans, share more about our mission, and continue building momentum around NF Awareness Month. Kicking off the month with such a strong and well-attended event sets the tone for everything still to come.

Our Tigers Community Night was a powerful start to NF Awareness Month programming, and we’re excited to continue that momentum with our upcoming NF Awareness in Action event on Sunday, May 17th from 12:00–4:00 p.m. at Nick Gilbert Way.
