Join us for NF Awareness in Action!

Join NFX during NF Awareness Month for an afternoon of creativity, connection, and community learning in the heart of Detroit.

Held on World NF1 Awareness Day, this family-friendly event brings together advocates, families, supporters, and community partners to raise awareness about neurofibromatosis (NF) and celebrate the strength of those living with it.

Through hands-on activities, live entertainment, local vendors, and interactive learning stations, attendees will explore what makes every NF journey unique and how awareness helps move research, support, and advocacy forward. Whether you are part of the NF community or learning about NF for the first time, there’s something here for everyone.

Creative Stations

Show Us Your Bow Tie: Design your own one-of-a-kind bow tie using markers, patterns, and creative flair.
Scribble, add polka dots, stripes, or symbols make it uniquely yours!

Plant a Succulent: Choose a small pot and decorate it. Then plant your own succulent and take it home as a living reminder of the day.

Patch for a Purpose: Featuring Ink Detroit visit Ink Detroit’s pop-up patch station, where attendees can purchase custom
patches and have them pressed onto one of their signature hats onsite. A special Gilly Project Bow Tie Patch has been created just for this event. Each patch is $5, and 100% of proceeds support NFX’s mission.

Bow Tie Style Station with Hot Sam’s Detroit: Detroit’s iconic Hot Sam’s Detroit will be onsite offering bow ties and specialty merchandise and teaching attendees how to tie a bow tie like a pro! Join one of our friendly Bow Tie Tying Challenges! Hot Sam’s Detroit is the oldest men’s clothing store in Downtown Detroit. They are your one-stop for all of your men’s fashion needs. Hot Sam’s has a resilient history, dating back to 1921, over 105 years of styling the men of Detroit.
